Holiday Homes - Advice for Getting a Good Deal on a Holiday Home
Holiday Homes can come in many different guises and some sites offer a variety of accommodation choices to suit. Whether its a caravan or a luxury lodge you're looking for check our tips below to help you get a great deal on a holiday home.
Finding Cheap Holiday Homes Deals - Top Tips
- When are You Planning to Go ? - The first thing you'll notice when you are looking to book a Holiday Home is the huge variation in rental prices charged throughout the year. The premium for staying in the middle of the school holidays can be over twice as much as booking in the low season. If you are flexible with the dates you may be able to save hundereds of pounds just by going a week earlier or later than you otherwise planned.
- Where ? - Once you've figured out where you want to go check the competition and consider other options of accommodation if you can such as bed and breakfasts and farmhouses. You should be able to guage how expensive the Holiday Home site is compared to other means of accommodation.
- Facilities - For some people the facilities are as equally important as the actual accommodation itself. Check if any restrictions apply to facilities such as Club Houses and Swimming Pools etc. Also check opening times as some areas may be closed during the low season. Also check if there are extra costs involved for some facilities and events. Its also worth making sure there are things to do off-site as well in case things are as good as you imagined or you simply want a change of scenery.
- Number of People Going - Sometimes it sounds like a good idea to get a couple of families together in a holiday home to cut down the cost but always make sure its practical. An 8-10 berth caravan might sound roomy if there are only 8 of you going but remember that most of the time the living quarters are needed at night for sleeping and this may cause a few problems.
- Up-to-Date Information - If you've looked at the images on a website and brochure and think the holiday home is perfect its worth reading the small print just in case. Try and see when the photo was taken and that the photos are of a similar holiday home to what you are looking for. As with most advertising the brand new high-end models are often shown in the photos and you're home may be considerably different.
- Check Reviews - Once you find a holiday home site that suits you at the right price try typing in the sites name and the word reviews in the Google box above. You should be able to get genuine reviews from people who have actually stayed there. Like any review though try not to take everything at face value as they may be written by the site's owner.
These are just a few pointers to try and help you get the best deal on a holiday home whether it be in the UK, Spain, Ireland or Italy - the same principals apply - good luck and start clicking....
